PBUS Member Eddie Lee Passes Away

Eddie Lee, a big name in the bail industry and noted PBUS member, passed away at the age of 58 on Oct. 24, 2011. As the owner of Mid West Bail Bonds, Lee ran 21 corporations in 14 states. He and a business partner also owned Universal Fire and Casualty Insurance Company, which has its headquarters in Columbia City, Indiana.
Following is Lee's obituary as written by DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home:
Eddie Eugene Lee, age 58, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 7:58 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at his home. Born on March 4, 1953 in Iaeger, West Virginia, he was the son of Robert E. and Maxine (England) Lee.
At age 5 he moved from West Virginia to Columbia City and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1971. Eddie first began his career at International Harvester, Fort Wayne and then was drafted into the United States Marines. Upon his discharge he returned to International Harvester where he worked for 5 years. He then became an insurance agent with Farm Bureau here in Columbia City. In 1979 he became self employed and now owns 21 corporations in 15 states as the owner of Mid West Bail Bonds. In 2003 he and a business partner purchased the Universal Fire and Casualty Insurance Company, Hudsonville, MI which is currently headquartered in Columbia City.
Survivors include his son, Eric David Lee of Columbia City; brother, Larry G. Lee of Columbia City; sister, Bobbie Neely of Charleston, WV; nephew, Ronald Lee of Churubusco. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dale Lee.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Grable officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
