ST. LOUIS, MO -- Jerome L. Mills has admitted to setting up commercial mailboxes as part of a wide-spread bondsman scheme that often targeted the elderly. The scammers contacted elderly people and claimed to be children or grandchildren in hospital or jail. They requested that the elderly loved one send cash for bondsman’s bills. Mills and others involved in the scam tried to steal up to $86,000. Mills claimed through his attorney that he was hired by people he believed were bondsmen and was not aware of the scam.
