Michael Farrar, a Tennessee bail agent, was shot with his own taser at close range while trying to apprehend a fugitive on March 25. Farrar had been pursuing Bethany Brashears after she walked away from a rehabilitation center. By leaving the rehabilitation center Brashears was in violation of a bond Farrar had written for her.
During the recovery process, Brashears was trying to take Farrar's taser from him when she squeezed the trigger instead, sending the two darts into Farrar's forearm. After receiving the shock, Farrar and one of his agents managed to capture Brashears and return her to authorities. Farrar was treated for his injuries at the Marshall Medical Center emergency room.
