California bondsman Joaquin Cruz, accused of extorting money, has passed away from pancreatic cancer. He died before going to trial to face charges. Cruz's attorney Arturo Revelo tried to get Cruz released from jail because of health reasons and has accused the system of killing his client by not providing good medical treatment. Revelo has now filed to have the charges against Cruz dropped. Cruz faced charges of false imprisonment, embezzlement and extortion.
Five others involved with Cruz, including his wife, still face the felony charges.
