On May 17th, bail agents from across Indiana will head to Michigan City for the Indiana Surety Bail Agents Association (ISBAA) Annual Conference. For more information on what to expect, we spoke with Jim Degan, president of the association.
Why is it important to attend ISBAA?
Degan:It is always important to attend the association meetings to learn what the other agents are doing to increase business as well as to meet and get to know the other agents in the state.
What can bail agents expect to learn at ISBAA's 2013 conference?
Degan:This years convention will educate the agents on new tactics to find and apprehend defendants who have failed to make their court dates.
Will there be any speakers at the conference? If yes, who are they and what will they be speaking about?
Degan:This years speakers will include a Judge from Porter County, and a Warrant Officier, in addition to several other notable speakers.
Where will the conference be located this year?
Degan:Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana.
What is ISBAA hoping to accomplish with this year's conference?
Degan:It is our desire to leave this meeting with a clear understanding of where we are headed on major issues facing our industry and with a coheasive voice.
What are some of the major issues, if any, that bail agents in your area are facing this year?
Degan:We are having a panel discussion on what affect Credit Bonding would have on our industry if enacted, and how to keep it from taking effect if that is what the majority of the bail agents desire.
