Bondsmen and Fugitive Exchange Gunfire
LITTLE ROCK, AR – Two bondsmen searching for a Louisiana suspect tracked him down in West Little Rock, AR. The confrontation between the Louisiana bondsmen and the suspect turned into a foot chase before the suspect turned and fired at the bondsmen. Bondsmen returned fire while near a gas station, but fortunately no one was hurt in the exchange. However, at least one bystander’s vehicle was hit and damaged by bullets. No charges have been filed but the bondsmen have been questioned regarding the incident. According to some reports, about seven shots were fired at the busy gas station.

Bondsmen Arrested
ALBANY, GA. – Bondsmen Steve McGowan and Billy Moore were out to apprehend suspect Ronntario Thompson for violating the terms of his bond. However, when they attempted to take Thompson into custody, he attempted to hit the two with a vehicle. The Georgia bondsmen eventually caught up to the suspect and he again attempted to escape but the bondsmen fired at him. Police apprehended the bondsmen and booked them for reckless conduct and aggravated assault. The case is still under investigation.

Bounty Hunter Reality Show Cancelled
HOLLYWOOD, CA – According to some news sources, it’s the end of an era: Dog The Bounty Hunter TV reality show has been cancelled by television network A&E. According to the network, the show will not continue after its eighth season. The show, which spawned many imitators, follows the life of bondsman Duane Chapman and his family while they track fugitives in Colorado and Hawaii. The show introduced many viewers to the job of the bondsman and bounty hunter, although some criticized the program for presenting an unrealistic view of the industry.

Bondsmen Accused of Soliciting Business at Municipal Courtroom
Brownsville, TX – While the Cameron County Bail Bond Board bans bondsmen from soliciting business on any city, county, or state property – including jails, prisons, police stations, and courtrooms – there are allegations that Texas bondsmen have been soliciting for business at the Brownsville municipal courtroom. According to police, the problem is rampant and is a concern because people at the courtroom are often stressed about legal situations and may not be carefully researching bondsmen who approach them there. Two complaints have been filed in the past week alone regarding bondsmen at the courthouse.

Bondsmen Granted Bond
ALBANY, GA – Bondsmen Steve McGowan and Billy Moore of ABC Express Bail Bonds have been released on bail after being booked in the Dougherty County jail after being charged with shooting Ronntario Thompson. The Georgia bondsmen were trying to apprehend Thompson and fired at him when he brandished something which they believed to have been a weapon. It was later revealed that the man was unarmed and was simply holding a cell phone.

Bondsman Arrested on Multiple Charges
PAWHUSKA, OK – Fred Al Green, an Oklahoma bondsman, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, concealing stolen property, and other charges. The charges stem from an arrest earlier in May. Christopher Thornburg, Ronald Krushe, and Jason Towell have also been arrested for related offenses and bail has been set at $25 000.
